These words from J.R.R. Tolkien perfectly describe the amazing bond between Jess & Derek. These two have an amazing love story founded in friendship, strengthened through loss, and sealed by destiny much like the characters of the Tolkien tales they both cherish so much. Theirs is a tale for the ages, their marriage the culmination of a long journey. We met Jess at a bridal show in 2019 and met with them both in early 2020. We had an instant connection and recognized them both as kindred spirits. We were thrilled when they booked us for their April 2020 wedding. We all know what happened then; the world changed. The coronavirus pandemic and ensuing quarantine changed countless lives and derailed wedding plans across the globe. Jess & Derek, after much deliberation and at least two postponements, decided to punt the ball way down the field and over the past few years we’ve kept in touch as their plans finally came to fruition. April 13, 2024 finally saw the big day arrive and we joined them and their fellowship at the gorgeous Old House Vineyards in Culpeper, Virginia for a windy but otherwise beautiful day. Dressed in full Middle Earth attire, Derek was in awe of his stunning bride and their ceremony on the island at the heart of Old House’s grounds was touching and sweet; everything we’d come to expect from this adorable duo. The celebration that followed was filled with love and laughter and some amazing highlights, not the least of which was a surprise Jaws cake for the bride (as if their Shire cake wasn’t awesome enough!). The night was capped off with a fun sparkler exit! We truly adore this couple and hope our future sees them in it as friends!
