Frequently Asked Questions

How long are engagement sessions?
Engagement sessions usually run 30-45 minutes

How many photos can we expect?
For engagement sessions, you can expect roughly 30 images. For your wedding day, you can expect at least 50-100 photos for each hour of coverage; for a 6 hour package that would mean 300 to 600 photos.

Do you back up your images?
Yes! All of our cameras shoot on two cards; one (a high capacity CF Card) stays in the camera and is reused. The other (an SD Card) is labeled with your names and put in a binder for safekeeping, never to be reused again. We also back up to multiple hard drives in the office.

Do you carry backup equipment?
Always! We both have at least 2 cameras at our disposal. We have nearly two dozen lenses and multiple flash heads. We always carry plenty of batteries as well.

Do you have insurance?
Yes we carry both liability and workman’s comp insurance.

How long does it take to get our photos?
Engagement photos are usually delivered within 3 weeks of your session. Wedding photos can take 6-8 weeks on average. Video editing doesn’t start until the photos are completed as they are an integral part of the story. If we are selecting photos, album design usually takes 6 weeks from the delivery of your photos. Once approved, albums take 3-4 weeks to ship.

What if there’s bad weather on our wedding day?
We have a 4×4 truck so if your wedding is happening, we’ll be there. This assumes, of course, that the roads we need to take to get to your venue are passable (ie – not flooded).

Who will photograph our wedding?
We are a husband and wife team. We don’t sub out work; if you hire us then we will be the ones taking your photos. One photographer packages are always handled by Rob.

How many weddings do you photograph in a weekend?
It really depends on the weekend. It’s not uncommon for us to have two in one weekend.

How would you describe your photography style?
Heather is more of a candid, photojournalistic shooter who loves capturing the moments as they happen. Rob is methodical and loves portraiture and experimenting with lighting as well as photojournalism.

How would you describe your working style? Do you prefer to blend into the background to capture candid moments, or do you like to be more visible and take charge to choreograph images?
This really depends on the wedding and the couple. We never make a conscious effort to choreograph aside from the posed formal shots and romantics, but sometimes couples lean on us to help keep them on schedule. We are in the mix for the day, especially during dancing. We’re out on the dance floor getting those amazing shots people love us for.

What kind of cameras do you use?
We both shoot on Canon 5D Mark IV’s. We have 5D Mark III’s as back up cameras. Video is shot on a Canon 7D Mark II and a Canon C100 Cinema Camera.

What is included in your standard package?
An engagement session and all your edited photos delivered via dropbox. We organize them into folders and give you a print release.

Can I customize a package to fit my needs?
Yes, absolutely

Do you include engagement photos in your packages? What about pre-wedding events like rehearsal dinners?
Engagement photos are included. Pre-wedding events like rehearsal dinners would be at extra cost and subject to availability.

How many hours are included in each package? How much do extra hours cost?
We book a minimum of 6 hours all the way up to 18 hours (the most we’ve done in a single wedding). Each hour of coverage above 6 hours is $500.

Do you offer retouching, color adjustment, or other corrective services? Are those included or an additional charge?
All of our photos are edited which includes color corrections and refinements to contrast, color, tone curves, etc. Retouching and major alterations are additional. We’d have to provide a quote as the cost would depend on the nature of the edit. Simple retouches such as blemishes are included with the initial edits but only done upon request.

Do you charge a travel fee?
For weddings more than 3 or 4 hours away we require a minimum 8 hour booking but we do not charge a fee for travel and if you have more than one location (ie prep at a hotel, ceremony at a church, reception at a hotel) then the travel time between locations (up to 45 minutes) is not counted against your package.

Can we order prints or albums directly from you?
Yes. We can provide albums and prints.

What type of album do you offer? Do you provide assistance selecting images and designing the album?
We offer photo wrap and crystal cover albums. We ask that you let us select the photos to speed up the design process. Once designed, we upload a digital proof of the album and allow you to make changes to it if desired.

Will we have the rights to the images?
We provide you with unlimited print rights. We retain intellectual ownership and copyright of the images.

What is your booking fee?
Our booking fee is $500.

Do you accept payments in installations?
Yes, you can pay via check or online via Quickbooks. Many couples pay their balance down prior to the wedding day.

What is the backup plan if you are unable to shoot my wedding for an unexpected reason?
We are members of several photography organizations that provide monthly lists of experienced and skilled photographers who are ready to replace or back us up at a moment’s notice.

Can we request a list of specific shots we would like?
Yes. Part of our process is a questionnaire that asks for your input; your likes and dislikes, photo styles you want us to utilize, etc. Your input is extremely valuable to us!

Do you post a “Sneak Peek”?
YES! We post a next-day sneak peek on our website and facebook page of at least 50 images.
